Subject: Motor Vehicle vs Train Crash
On Tuesday August 18, 2020, at approximately 6:09 p.m., the Sun Prairie Police Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle versus train crash near the intersection of Town Hall Road and State Highway 19 in the City of Sun Prairie.
Initial investigation shows that a Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Town Hall Road from State Highway 19, when it struck a Wisconsin & Southern locomotive that was traveling across the roadway at the railroad crossing. The Nissan Altima sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene. The Wisconsin & Southern Locomotive also sustained minor damage as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Nissan Altima was transported by Sun Prairie Emergency Medical Services to a local emergency room for treatment of minor injuries. A citation has been issued to the driver of the Nissan Altima, Bobbi L. Laabs, for failing to yield the right of way.
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
