On August 18, 2020, at approximately 6:00 pm, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, located and arrested Jon William Schmidt and Deborah Hollis-Coburn in Clovis, Ca. Their arrest is the culmination of a three years-long investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons Unit. Schmidt and Hollis-Coburn are alleged to have embezzled and stolen over $4,000,000.00 from a local agricultural business. They are currently in custody in the Fresno County Jail and are awaiting transportation to the Kern County Jail, where they will remain on $4,000,000.00 bail.
