Subject: Armed Robbery with High Speed Pursuit; Person of Interest in Custody

At 12:26am on Wednesday morning August 12, 2020, officers with the Sun Prairie Police Department were sent to 1310 Park Circle for a report of an armed robbery that just occurred. Information received was that four males with handguns robbed several victims of items including $1,500 in cash and a Play Station 4 video game system, which was recovered by officers later. One of the victims gave a description of the suspect vehicle as a black Dodge Charger with red racing stripes. While in route to Park Circle to the area, an officer located that vehicle parked at Kwik Trip (1252 W. Main Street) occupied. Officers attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and another Sun Prairie officer was positioned on W. Main Street at USHWY151 and deployed vehicle tire deflating spikes. Two of the fleeing suspect vehicle’s tires were hit with the spikes. The pursuit continued onto southbound USHWY151. The vehicle then lost the two spiked tires on the highway.

As the pursuit entered the city of Madison on East Washington Avenue, the suspect vehicle was pulling away from Sun Prairie officers by driving over 100-110MPH on two rims with sparks flying from the rims. Due to these factors along with the suspect vehicle entering a more populated area in Madison, the pursuit was ended by the Sun Prairie Police Department. Madison Police Department located the suspect vehicle abandon at East Washington and Lein Road. With the assistance of Capital Police Department, Dane County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol, a K9 track was done with no results. A pistol stolen out of Madison was located inside the abandon suspect vehicle.

Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
