Evacuation Warning for Mill Creek Road Continues Due to Fire Weather Watch, New Fremont Map & Other Updates

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast from 11 AM, Sunday, August 23rd until 11 AM, Tuesday, August 25th.  Fast moving, high-based thunderstorms may lead to a risk of dry lightning and new fire starts.

Due to the projected weather conditions and potential fire danger, the current Evacuation Warning for Mill Creek Road residences from 196 Mill Creek Road to 9000 Mill Creek Road will remain in place through the anticipated weather event.

The CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit (CAL FIRE SCU) produces two SCU Lightning Complex incident updates per day. These updates include the most current information about evacuation warnings and orders, incident facts, a situation summary, road closures, animal evacuation centers, and assigned resources. If you would like to receive regular email updates about the incident, you can sign up to receive incident press releases by visiting: www.tinyurl.com/LightningComplex.

Looking for incident information with a local focus? An online map created specifically to show current Evacuation Warnings and Orders within the City of Fremont is available to view here: http://arcg.is/1GmOfO

An online display of current Evacuation Warnings and Orders issued for the SCU Lightning Complex fires throughout Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Santa Clara County, San Joaquin County and Stanislaus County is also available and can be viewed here: www.tinyurl.com/scu-evacmap.

While there are no active wildfires in Fremont currently, the Fremont Fire Department continues to have personnel deployed at the SCU Lightning Complex fires in Sunol and unincorporated Alameda County, the Hennessey Fire in Solano County, and the Lake Fire in the Angeles National Forest. All crews deployed are safe and in good spirits, and all Fremont fire stations remain fully staffed.
