SCV Sheriff’s J-Team Hosting Virtual Event to Discuss Drugs
J-Team deputies will livestream a virtual ‘Java with the J-Team’ on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. on the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook page.
You can email your questions ahead of time to [email protected] or type in your questions during Thursday's live broadcast. J-Team deputies will discuss the current trends that they are seeing regarding drug use by young people and resources available.
“Oftentimes, parents want to know what kind of drugs their kids are being exposed to, the kind of drugs we’re currently seeing in Santa Clarita and how can they recognize the signs that someone may be using drugs in their family,” said J-Team Sgt. Gooseberry. "We want to do our best to educate the public so they can keep their families safe.”
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s J-Team works to break the cycle of drug abuse, which involves much more than traditional law enforcement. The team’s outreach is not limited to strictly juvenile narcotic offenders, but help is also extended to young adults who are struggling with drug addiction. J-Team detectives follow-up with young adults who have been arrested on narcotic charges, with the mission of offering help and resources to them and their family members, aiding in the fight against addiction.
