Kollin Avarell was arrested for check fraud & elder abuse after stealing $2800 in checks from the 84 year old victim

SUMMARY:
On June 4, 2020, deputies were called to the 84-year-old’s victim's residence in reference to check fraud. She discovered someone stole her checkbook, forged her name and wrote just over $2,800 worth of checks from her account. Detective Shelton from the Twin Peaks Station took over the case and through investigation, determined Kollin Avarell, a known family friend, wrote the checks and deposited them into his business account.
A warrant was issued for Kollin Avarell's arrest on Friday, August 13, 2020 and he was arrested, interviewed and booked into jail the same day. Avarell was found in possession of the victim's property and was driving on a suspended license. Avarall was also found in possession of methamphetamine.
