Observant Officer on Patrol Catches Suspected Burglar
On August 26, 2020 at approximately 3:19 AM, an officer was on patrol in the 800 block of Penn Street. While patrolling the neighborhood, he saw a man (later identified as Vardan Gevorgyan, age 29), discard something onto the lawn of a house. While investigating the situation, the officer discovered the item Gevorgyan threw into the lawn was a checkbook in someone else’s name. Officers contacted the owner of the checkbook and learned it had been stolen from his car. Gevorgyan also had additional possibly stolen items that included:
A wallet containing multiple debit/credit cards in someone else’s name (later determined to have just been stolen from a car)
Items of jewelry including a silver and multi-colored bracelet in a zip lock bag
Three pairs of sunglasses
Zip lock bag containing multiple lipsticks
Officers arrested Gevorgyan on the suspicion of burglary and he was taken to jail for booking. So far, Gevorgyan is suspected of committing crimes in the 800-900 blocks of Sheldon Street, the 700 block of Sierra Street, and the 1500 block of East Palm Avenue. The miscellaneous items Gevorgyan had in his possession at the time of his arrest may have been stolen from other parked cars in the city.
