Detectives arrested Jaime Martinez for robbery and assault on a security guard on July 26th in Highland

SUSPECT: Jaime Martinez, 23 years old, resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM: 30-year-old male
SUMMARY:
On July 26, 2020, the victim was working as a security guard in the area of 5th Street and Palm Ave., when he was assaulted by an unknown male. During the assault, the male suspect stole the victim's collapsible baton he used as part of his job. The victim sustained a major injury as a result of the assault.
During their investigation, Highland detectives identified Jaime Martinez as a possible suspect. On August 24, 2020, detectives contacted Martinez near 9th Street and Sterling Ave. in Highland. During the contact, Martinez resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Once in custody, Martinez was taken to the Highland Station for interview. At the conclusion of the interview, Martinez was booked into the Central Detention Center on several felony charges.
