Representatives of the Mercersburg Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization, (PTO) reported the embezzlement of funds from the PTO accounts. On August 28,2020, after a nine-month investigation, the Mercersburg Police arrested the former PTO Treasurer Tami Jo Towns. Towns was charged with (1) Felony count of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Funds and was arraigned before the Honorable Magisterial Judge Jody Eyer. A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on September 29, 2020 and Towns was on $50,000 unsecured bail.
