Man Who Attempted To Run Social Security Scam On SHERIFF VICTOR HILL Now On The Run!

A man who was running the stolen social security number scam by phone had no idea that he was talking to and attempting to scam Clayton County’s top cop!   Yesterday, Sheriff Victor Hill received a telephone call on his county issued phone from a man who claimed he was an investigator with the federal government.  The man stated he was investigating the fraudulent use of the Sheriff’s social security number.  Amused, the Sheriff decided to play along.

The man asked the Sheriff for his name, date of birth, and the last four digits of his social security number.  The Sheriff gave the man a false name, false date of birth, and false ssn digits.  The man exclaimed that he did in fact have a file under the false name and ssn number he was given by the Sheriff and gave the Sheriff case number #dmc94658 to prove so.  The man asked the Sheriff if he had loss his wallet recently. The  Sheriff continued to play along saying he lost it at a local mall and got it back the next day from lost and found.  The scam artist began scolding the Sheriff for not filing a police report!

At this point the scam artist went on to tell the Sheriff that his social security number had been used to rent a car in Texas that was involved in a murder, and money laundering.  The man explained to the Sheriff that the F.B.I. and U.S. Marshals had taken out a warrant out for him, but that the warrant was “being held” so that it could be worked out.

When the man asked the Sheriff for his credit card information, the conversation went downhill.  The man called the Sheriff a son of b..... before hanging up.

The Sheriff then called his elite Fugitive Squad and gave them the number that the man called him from.  Within the hour, the Fugitive Squad identified the man as Anthony Clark Jr. and had his last known address in Henry County surrounded.  Neighbors who saw the commotion told the squad that Clark had just moved from that location a week prior.  Ironically, Clark is wanted for failure to pay child support out of South Carolina.

The Sheriff called and left Clark a voice mail and text advising him that it would be wise to leave Georgia and get a legitimate job to support his kids instead of scamming innocent people out of their money.  Clark called the Sheriff back trying to explain his way out what he did, but declined to meet with him at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters.

Anthony Clark Jr. has now infamously made #11 on Sheriff Victor Hill’s Top Ten Most Wanted. Clark needs to be shipped back to South Carolina to answer to authorities for not supporting his kids.  If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Anthony Clark Jr., please contact the Fugitive Squad at 770-477-4477.

Remember, do not give information to anyone calling about your social number, and make a police report immediately after you hang up on them!
