2nd Update to Fatal Crash on 8/31/2020

Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports that his office has Identified all of the additional people involved in the fatal crash that occurred 8/31/2020 in Jefferson Twp, Cass County Mi. Through our investigation we have been able to Identify Samantha Worley, 27, of Cassopolis Mi. as one of the passengers in the car at the time of the accident. Samantha received minor injuries and was not treated for those injuries. Also a passenger in the car was Asa English, 45, of Cassopolis Mi. who was not treated for any injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the vehicle is believed to be Willie Moore, 35 years old, of Cassopolis, Mi. He was transported to Borgess Lee Hospital by private vehicle after the crash occurred and was treated at the hospital for injuries sustained in the Crash. The case is still under investigation at this time.

The Victim that succumbed to the injuries sustained in fatal crash that occurred on Brownsville St. in Jefferson Township, Cass County Mi. on 8/31/2020 is Identified as 41 yr old Marcus Moore, of Cassopolis Mi. This accident remains under investigation at this time.

Subject: One Vehicle Fatal Crash

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports his deputies were dispatched to a personal injury crash on 8-31-2020 at approximately 2351 hours to the area of Brownsville St and Highfield Rd, Jefferson Township, Cass County, MI. Victims of the crash self transported to Borgess Lee Dowagiac for the injuries they sustained. As a result of the crash, one individual is deceased. The names are being withheld until notification to family members are made. The investigation shows that the vehicle was westbound on Brownsville road when it lost control due to speed and a freshly applied chip seal to the roadway. The vehicle rolled several times and laid to rest in a field. Restraint use is unknown and speed appears to be a factor. Alcohol and drug use is unknown at this time. This crash remains under investigation.
