EXHIBITION OF SPEED VIOLATIONS

The Oakley Police Department takes exhibition of speed violations seriously. An exhibition of speed is a little different than a normal speeding violation. An exhibition of speed violation is more or less defined as: burnouts, doing "donuts", drag racing, drifting and sideshows etc...

Not only are exhibitions of speed very dangerous, they are destructive and leave very unsightly tire burnout marks on streets, sidewalks, fields, lawns, or wherever the offending driver may choose to conduct this activity.

Exibitions of speed usually occur in mere seconds and the offenders usually leave the area before police officers arrive. The Oakley Police Department encourages citizens to continue to report these violations as they see them occurring, even though the offenders may be gone before we get there.

A detailed description of the vehicle(s), or a captured license plate will enhance the ability of our officers to locate the offenders. So if you are in a position to report these exibitions please, without endangering yourself, obtain as much of a detailed description as possible.

The Oakley Police Department is dedicated to take enforcement action against violators, to include citations and towing the offenders car away, up to 30 days.

Thank you and be safe.
