KCSO Investigating shooting in east Bakersfield
On September 2, 2020, at 3:00 a.m., the Kern County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the victim of a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of Sterling Rd. Deputies arrived and located an adult male suffering non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, deputies determined the identity of the suspect, Isaac Mize (29 y/o). At approximately 8:15 a.m., deputies developed information that Mize was in an apartment in the 2500 block of Center St. Deputies arrived and Mize barricaded himself inside. After approximately one hour, Mize crawled through a window and onto the roof of the apartment. At that point, Mize complied with deputies and was taken into custody without incident. Mize will be booked at the Central Receiving Facility for assault with a deadly weapon.
