Nicholas Plummer was arrested for attempt murder

SUSPECT(S): Nicholas Plummer, 35-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms

SUMMARY: On August 29, 2020, at 8:45 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station responded to an unknown problem in the 6100 block of Chia Ave in the city of Twentynine Palms. Responding deputies discovered a domestic violence related incident had just taken place at a nearby residence. The victim was able to escape the residence with her child, immediately contacting nearby residents who called 911 for assistance.
During the investigation, deputies learned Nicholas Plummer hit the victim in the face and choked her unconscious with a vacuum cleaner power cord. Plummer stepped on the victim's head and held her at knife point. Plummer threatened to kill the victim and their child if they attempted to leave. Plummer fled the scene prior to deputy arrival. Morongo Basin detectives began actively working the investigation and sought a warrant for the arrest of Plummer for attempt murder.
On September 2, at 1:25 p.m., Plummer contacted Sheriff's Dispatch and provided his location to surrender to deputies. Members of the Sheriff's Specilized Enforcement Division arrested Plummer without incident. Plummer was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held in lieu of $750,000.00 bail.
