Advisory
On September 1, 2020 at 9:39PM, Meridian officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of W. Broadway Ave, to assist Emergency Medical Services with a nine (9) year old male victim who was not breathing. Officers arrived on scene to find the victim not breathing and no heartbeat. They performed CPR until EMS arrived on scene and took over, continuing CPR efforts.
Officers observed that the victim showed signs of abuse. The victim was transported to a hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced deceased.
Three (3) other children, ages nine (9), four (4) and four (4) months were placed into protective custody and placed with Health and Welfare.
Through further investigation, officers developed enough probable cause to arrest the father Erik OSUNA-GUTIEREZ and stepmother Monique OSUNA.
Erik OSUNA-GUTIEREZ and Monique OSUNA of Meridian were arrested for one (1) count felony, Injury to Child and transported to Ada County Jail. This is an ongoing investigation and Meridian Police detectives ask community members to contact the Meridian Police Department if they have any further information regarding this case.
