Members of our community have been receiving scam calls from people claiming to represent Social Security. The scammers claim that there is some issue with the community member’s Social Security in an attempt to solicit personal information and get the community member to send them money.
It is important to be aware of Social Security scams. Scammers have been known to use threatening language and demand immediate payment to avoid arrest or other legal action.

If you receive a suspicious call, HANG UP! Do not give them any information or money. Report the scam to the Office of the Inspector General at:
OIG.SSA.GOV or by calling 1-800-269-0271.
