Due to an excessive heat warning this weekend, the Gilroy Library will be opened as a cooling center from Saturday, September 5 – Monday, September 7 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The library is located at 350 West Sixth Street in Gilroy. Social-distancing measures will be enforced.
With predicted weekend temperatures as high as 110°, we encourage all of our residents to take extra caution by following the recommendations below for health and safety during excessively high temperatures:
- Stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun.
- Drink plenty of fluids and replace salts and minerals in your body.
- Check on family, friends, and neighbors who do not have air conditioning and who spend much of their time alone.
- Never leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles.
