Hit & Run to Pedestrian Update | Driver Identified & Arrested

Fabio Costa Alves, 30, of Wisconsin Dells was arrested without incident and transported to the Dane County jail, where he was booked on a charge of hit and run causing injury.  

Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The victim pedestrian in this hit and run, a 64-year-old female, has been released from the hospital and suffered significant injuries. The family dog has died from injuries sustained in the hit and run.

The investigation, including video surveillance, has revealed that the suspect vehicle is a possible platinum gray 2007-2009 Volkswagen Rabbit two-door. The vehicle sustained windshield damage on the drivers side.

On Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 1:12 PM, the Middleton Police Department responded to a hit and run to a pedestrian accident on Lisa Lane just west of Parmenter Street.  Responding officers determined that a vehicle traveling westbound on Lisa Lane struck a pedestrian in the roadway who was walking their dog.  The victim, a 64-year-old female, was transported to UW Hospital by Middleton Paramedics where she is in stable condition.  The suspect vehicle was last seen fleeing west on Lisa Lane.

The suspect vehicle was described by witnesses as a gray four-door hatchback-style car being driven by a white male in his 20’s.  The vehicle sustained windshield damage on the driver’s side from the accident.  Anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have information about this vehicle, is asked to contact our police department at (608)824-7300.
