Advisory

GO! Stage/Evacuation lifted for all areas in Teton County for Swinging Bridge Fire. Residents may return.

As of 9:00am on Monday September 7, 2020, the GO! Stage/Evacuation Order has been lifted for Henry's Road, Game Creek, Squaw Creek, and Porcupine Creek subdivisions that was put in place on 9/6/20 at 5:48pm. Be advised that Henry's Rd from Swinging Bridge to Porcupine Creek Rd will remain CLOSED at least through this evening to allow fire crews to continue working the fire. Residents of Porcupine Creek Rd will need to access Henry's Rd from the S Highway 89 entrance just north of Horse Creek Rd.

Firefighters, law enforcement, and utility crews thank everyone who complied with the evacuation order so that they could focus on quickly containing the fire and repairing infrastructure. Due to your actions by evacuating early when receiving the GO! evacuation notification, you helped to make it so that no structures were lost nor any injuries occurred in the initial stages of the Swinging Bridge Fire.

The Swinging Bridge Fire Incident Commander would like to relay the following to residents of the area returning to their homes:

  • This is a working fire. You can expect to see helicopters, fire trucks, and fire personnel throughout the area. Please use extreme caution when driving around them.
  • If you do not reside in the evacuated areas, stay away from the scene to allow folks to return home and give emergency personnel space to safely work.
  • A small number of homes may be without power. If you return home and there is no power, call Lower Valley Energy at 307-733-2446 to report the outage. Lower Valley Energy has been working through the night to repair infrastructure and continues to do so this morning.
  • Lower Valley Energy asks that if you see fire or anything unusual around transformer boxes near your home to call them at 307-733-2446 and they will send a lineman to check it for safety.
  • You can follow updates on the fire from the Bridger-Teton National Forest Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BridgerTetonNF.
  • There will be no further scheduled public meetings or notices on this fire unless the situation changes significantly.
Teton County Emergency Management would like to thank everyone that reached out to offer places for evacuees to stay and material donations. Although no additional resources were needed, it is great to see our community come together in times of crisis.
