The National Weather Service in Cleveland has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Lorain County in north central Ohio... Cuyahoga County in northeastern Ohio... Southwestern Geauga County in northeastern Ohio... Northeastern Medina County in northeastern Ohio... Northern Summit County in northeastern Ohio...

* Until 200 PM EDT.

* At 1139 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing across Cuyahoga county, with multiple water rescues reported. Major flooding is occurring along Big Creek, with the latest reported river stage of 13.64 feet at 1115 AM. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Doppler radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cleveland, Lorain, Elyria, Willowick, Vermilion, Western Vermilion, Parma, Lakewood, Euclid, Cleveland Heights, Strongsville, Brunswick, Westlake, North Royalton, North Ridgeville, Solon, Avon Lake, Hudson, Twinsburg and Streetsboro. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
