(Español abajo) Red Flag Warning for Upper Elevations of the North Bay

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for upper elevations across the Bay Area including the North Bay Mountains from 10 PM Monday (9/7) to 8 AM Wednesday (9/9). Hot temperatures, gusty offshore winds, and drier conditions are expected. A Red Flag Warning means that weather conditions are occurring or will occur that can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Potential Public Safety Power Shutoff
Due to forecasted hot, windy weather and dry conditions, PG&E is planning a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) that may impact multiple counties, including Sonoma County. For Santa Rosa, approximately 15,000 customers in the eastern part of the city limits would be impacted by a potential shutoff. We estimate this to impact approximately 45,000 residents. PG&E customers can look up their address online to determine whether their location is being monitored for the potential public safety shutoff at pge.com/pspsupdates. 
 
If PG&E proceeds with the PSPS, de-energization will begin later tonight, Monday 9/7. PG&E anticipates full restoration for all impacted customers would be completed by Wednesday evening, 9/9. PG&E will notify customers if they are to be impacted by the outages. It is important to make sure you receive notifications from PG&E if a PSPS occurs and your household is impacted. Resources For Those Impacted
PG&E plans to open Community Resource Centers (CRCs) in every county where a PSPS occurs. These temporary CRCs will be open to customers when power is out at their homes and will provide ADA-accessible restrooms and hand-washing stations; medical-equipment charging; Wi-Fi; bottled water; and non-perishable snacks. The City of Santa Rosa will also open a cooling center for residents again tomorrow, Tuesday, 9/8 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Dohn Room at Steele Lane Community Center. Cooling Center details can be found at srcity.org/HighRiskHeatEvent

Traffic Safety
If PG&E proceeds with a power shutoff, many intersections will be without power in east Santa Rosa including during the morning commute. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and stay off the road, if possible. If you must drive, reduce speeds, drive with caution and treat all intersections without power as a 4-way stop, per State law. Reflective tape has been added to the face of traffic signals to aid in their visibility during overnight hours. Some intersections will be supplemented with temporary stop signs.
