Public Safety Power Shutoffs - SCE has announced plans of possible electrical power shutoffs starting today.
Southern California Edison has announced that due to high-risk fire conditions forecasted by weather authorities, there is a high possibility that your electrical power will be interrupted sometime today, and may continue to impact customers for the next 24-48 hours. Public Safety Power Shutoffs are temporary and meant to keep the community safe.
Outages will occur in response to localized weather conditions and may not be fully known until the day of the event. The decision to turn off the power and the speed at which it is restored is planned and managed solely by Southern California Edison.
Citizens need to prepare for being without power for several days. Notifications have been sent out to customer by calls, text messages and emails for the past 48 hours. Be sure your contact information is up-to-date with Southern California Edison at https://www.sce.com/
Uninterrupted power is required to operate SSCSD water and sewer treatment plants along with the water distribution and sewer collection system.
Importantly, all Stallion Springs Community Services District residents must be prepared for water conservation efforts to help the entire community.
The Stallion Springs Community Services District would like to remind our community that it is important to be prepared and have a plan. Prepare for outages that may occur at any time and may last several days
At this time, there are no plans to open up the Stallion Springs Community Services District building as a “Hospitality Center” where citizens with severe medical conditions can go to, or where there is access to electricity to charge essential electronic devices. Locations of “Hospitality Centers” will be announced should they open.
For citizens with serious medical conditions, please sign up for Southern California Edison’s Medical Baseline program. You may qualify for additional portable power equipment during PSPS events. You must be signed up for this program to be able to gain access to this equipment. The Stallion Springs Police Department will distribute these electrical devices as needed and supplies are limited.
If you or someone in your home qualifies, call SCE at 1-800-655-4555 or at https://www.sce.com/residential/assistance/medical-baseline
If you completed these above listed guidlines and are in need of equipment please contact the Stallion Springs Police Department at (661) 861-3110 or (661) 822-3268 during normal business hours.
OUTAGES
- Plan for medical needs such as medications that may require refrigeration or devices that need power.
- Have enough nonperishable food and water.
- During a power outage, conserve water. Minimize water usage to only critical health and safety needs to help SSCSD maintain service to its citizens.
- Keep vehicles fueled in preparation for extended outages. Gas station pumps will not work during power outages.
- Identify backup charging methods for phones and keep hard copies of emergency numbers.
- Build or restock your emergency kit with food, water, necessary medication, flashlights, fresh batteries, first aid supplies, and cash. Enough supplies for one week. Remember that retail stores (grocery, pharmacy, etc) and restaurants may be closed during prolonged outages.
- Never use a generator indoors, the exhaust can be harmful or fatal to people and animals.
- Please do not modify or leave a generator unattended.
- Install Carbon Monoxide detectors with battery backup power in central locations on every level of your home.
- Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The refrigerator will keep food cold for about four to eight hours. A full freezer will keep the temperature for about 48 hours. Monitor temperatures with a thermometer. Use coolers with ice during a prolonged power outage.
