SUBJECT: Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Charges

ACCUSED: Shahid S. Collins // 41 year old male // Neptune Twp. NJ
NARRATIVE:
On September 6th 2020, at approximately 3:15 am Sgt. Melody was on patrol in the area of the Asbury Park Circle. His attention was drawn to a black SUV due to an observed motor vehicle violation. Following a motor vehicle stop for this violation, he made contact with 41 year old Shahid Collins. Collins was the driver of this motor vehicle. Sgt. Melody, along with back-up officers, were alerted to the presence of narcotics in this vehicle. Further investigation revealed Collins to be in possession of a host of narcotics and related paraphernalia.
Collins was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed. He was charged with possession of crack cocaine, Ecstacy, Oxycodone, Gabapentin, Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with possession with intent to sell narcotics. He was later released on criminal summonses pending a future court appearance. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.
