Drive By Shooting Investigations

Since May 01, 2020 there has been (4) shots fired incidents commonly referred to as “drive-by shootings”. On each incident, the suspects fired multiple rounds at or into dwellings from moving suspect vehicles. The locations have been in the 19600 block of Woodmont, 18500 block of Washtenaw, 19900 block of Washtenaw, and 19400 block of Roscommon. Three of the dwellings were occupied at the time and one unoccupied. Fortunately, no one was injured during these shots fired incidents.

Members of the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety responded to each of these scenes followed by detective bureau investigations. Detectives have been faced with the unfortunate challenge of complainants not willing to cooperate with the investigations. Despite this lack of cooperation, detectives continue to investigate these crimes and have made progress. Shell casing evidence has been linked to other shooting in surrounding jurisdictions. Harper Woods detectives are working with these other law enforcement agencies to identify suspects responsible for these shootings.

The Harper Woods Department of Public Safety continues to prioritize the safety of its community. Residents are encouraged to notify their public safety department if they have information related to these crimes or any others in the City of Harper Woods. Information may be forwarded to dispatch at 313-343-2530 and the caller may remain anonymous if they wish. Information may also be forwarded to Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK UP.
