Every Deputy at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is required by policy to “fight crime” regardless of their assignment.  This is true even if serving civil papers is their “primary function”.  This policy has proved useful in the Sheriff’s Office primary mission to “fight crime” on many occasions, but perhaps never more than today.

Today, a serial robber committed 3 successful robberies and one attempted robbery in Clayton County.   All 4 robberies had the same description: black male, khaki shorts, blue shirt, black hat,  and driving a black 4 door sedan.  The first robbery was at the McDonalds at 8530 Highway 85.  The second robbery was located at the Little Caesars located at 6555 Tara Blvd.  The attempted robbery was at 7390 Hwy 85 which is the Quick Trip.  The last robbery was committed at the CVS at 8139 Tara Blvd.

The robbery at CVS is the last robbery that suspect Jay Neal Bell II was able to commit.   Deputies from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office elite Blackhawk Unit and Tactical Patrol along with Jonesboro PD converged in on the area setting up road blocks and setting up perimeters.  However, it was a Sargeant from the Civil Process Division that saved the day.  Sgt. Desvignes spotted the suspect driving in his car after the suspect turned into 455 Hwy 138. The suspect was taken into custody by gunpoint without incident.  Bell told Deputies he was on crack and needed money for another fix.

Jay Neal Bell II was positively identified by camera photos as the robbery suspect.  Bell was turned over to Jonesboro Police Detectives for further questioning.   Bell will be transported to “The Hill-ton” where he will face the wall at Georgia’s toughest para- military jail.
