Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of August 31-September 6

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 09-01-20 at 12:55 p.m., Sergeant Reyes and Officer Mulitaoupele were dispatched to the Total Wine and More store to check on the welfare of a female who was yelling inside the store. The assistant manager told the officers that there was a female taking a bath at the beer tasting sink. When the assistant manager tried to ask her questions, he said she became upset and started yelling at him and other employees. The officers saw the subject vigorously washing her hands, face and arms. Officer Jackson, who is a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team, arrived to speak with the subject. The officers subsequently placed the 20-year old transient subject under a 72-hour hold for a psychiatric evaluation.

On Wednesday, 09-02-20 at approximately 5:20 a.m., Officer Lizana was driving west on 91st Street approaching Sullivan Avenue when he saw a subject walking in small circles in the middle of the street. Officer Lizana saw two vehicles come to a stop, causing them to drive slowly around the subject. As Officer Lizana was speaking to the subject, he noticed the subject was sweating profusely, twitching, turning his head from side to side, and clenching his jaw in an unnatural manner. Officer Lizana asked the subject if he was okay, and the subject said he needed to call 911. Officer Lizana asked the subject if he had used any methamphetamine, and the subject nodded his head up and down. Officer Lizana performed field sobriety tests on the subject, a 31-year old Daly City resident, and subsequently arrested him for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Friday, 09-04-20 at 12:08 a.m., Officer Wagnon attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle at Geneva Avenue and Allan Street. The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over, and Officer Wagnon initiated a pursuit through Daly City and Colma. The subject ultimately pulled into the Colma Police Department parking lot. Officer Wagnon arrested the subject, a 21-year old San Francisco resident, for felony evading, resisting arrest, refusing to provide identification to a police officer, displaying false registration, speeding, not having license plates, and for having tinted windows.

On Saturday, 09-05-20 at approximately 11:18 p.m., Officer Reyes was flagged down by a citizen in the front parking lot of the police station. Officer Ciucci responded to assist and recognized the subject from a previous contact. Officer Ciucci spoke with the cab driver who stated that the subject requested he be taken to the police station because he was fearful his family had been harmed. Officer Ciucci could see the subject appeared to under the influence of a controlled substance, as the subject’s pupils were dilated, he was unable to carry on a conversation, he was contracting his jaw muscles and appeared to be displaying symptoms of paranoia. The subject admitted to smoking methamphetamine about an hour prior. This is the same subject who was arrested for the same charge a few days prior by Officer Lizana. Officer Ciucci placed the subject under arrest for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Sunday, 09-06-20 at 7:38 p.m., Officer Premenko and Officer Davis were dispatched to the Target Store at the Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a just-occurred robbery with a knife. The suspect had already left on foot, but officers found him a short distance from the store. According to the Target loss prevention officer, he confronted a subject for stealing miscellaneous items, and the suspect brandished a box cutter at him. Officers arrested the 47-year old transient subject for robbery.

On Sunday, 09-06-20 at 22:44 p.m., Officer Premenko cited a 31-year old Millbrae resident for driving under the influence and for possession of a controlled substance after the subject was involved in a traffic collision at Lakeshire Drive and Higate Drive.

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
