Boil Water Notice For City of Trinity Customers.

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems
September 15, 2020

Due to water quality and maintenance issues, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Trinity public water system (228002) to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Steven Jones at 936-594-2507.

Below is the exact wording from TCEQ as to what the city will be doing to resolve the issue.

Due to water quality and maintenance issues, the TCEQ is requiring the City of Trinity to issue a Boil Water Notice at this time. Submit a copy of the issued Boil Water Notice language and Certificate of Delivery to the Beaumont Regional Office within 24-hours from the time noted at the bottom of this Exit Interview Form. This Boil Water Notice will be required to remain in effect until the water system can (1) adequately patch all of the holes in the 0.15 MG Underground Storage Tank at the Underground Storage Tank Plant and the 0.15 MG Ground Storage Tank at the Ground Storage Tank Plant, (2) repair or replace the overflow cover on the 0.15 MG Underground Storage Tank at the Underground Storage Tank Plant, (3) clean and disinfect the two noted storage tanks, (4) properly place the storage tanks and well back into service, (5) reestablish adequate pressure throughout the distribution system, (6) ensure that the water system is maintaining an adequate chlorine residual, (7) flush the system adequately enough to remove the bloodworms from the distribution system, and (8) obtain negative bacteriological sampling results for each of the wells, ground storage tanks, and the distribution system.

*At this time, the holes in both tanks have been located and repaired. The overflow cover on the underground tank has been repaired. A representative from a tank cleaning service will arrive in the morning (September 16, 2020) to evaluate and initiate the process of cleaning and disinfecting both tanks.

Instructions:

Boil water until further notice.
