RED FLAG in the Truckee/Tahoe Area Thursday & Friday, EXTREME FIRE Danger - High WINDS and Very Dry Conditions.

From National Weather Service:

Winds...Southwest winds Thursday afternoon shifting to west on Friday. Sustained winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph possible both days. Ridge winds up to 60 mph expected during the afternoon hours each day. Winds in valleys should weaken late Thursday evening, while ridges continue to gust to around 70 mph overnight into Friday morning.

* Humidity...10 to 20% Thursday afternoon. Moderate recoveries overnight Thursday. 15 to 30% Friday afternoon.

* Duration...4 to 9 hours of critical conditions each afternoon. Critical conditions will occur through the entirety of the warned period for ridges.

* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

Keep your phone turned on and near your bed during the night so you can get evacuation notices. Always be prepared to evacuate in Fire Season. Have a GO BAG ready with your important items, have a garden hose ready, park fueled cars facing out, know two ways out of your neighborhood, pay attention to your phone for evacuation notices and GO EARLY, if you see smoke or think you should go.
