During a traffic stop, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded stolen firearm and narcotics

LOCATION: Citrus Street / Victoria Avenue, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): Salvador Zuniga, age 40 a resident of Banning
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 13, 2020, at approximately 2:29 am, Deputy J. Angelini conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for several CVC (California Vehicle Code) violations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Salvador Zuniga. A records check of Zuniga confirmed Zuniga's driver's license was currently expired. Zuniga was asked to step out of the vehicle and he was detained in handcuffs. Prior to towing the vehicle, Angelini conducted an inventory search of the vehicle.
During the inventory search, Angelini located a loaded, stolen firearm underneath the driver's front seat. Angelini also located 4 plastic baggies of suspected methamphetamine with a combined weight of approximately 6 ounces. Another plastic baggie contained approximately 10 grams of suspected heroin inside the vehicle. Zuniga was also in possession of over $600.00 cash in different denominations. Zuniga was placed under arrest for several felony charges and booked into Central Detention Center.
