Full Notification

This evening PHPD officers were dispatched to a residence regarding a person in possession of a firearm. Upon arrival, officers observed the person driving a vehicle away from the scene. Officers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop when the person began shooting at the officers. The suspect then drove to the rear of a school where he attempted suicide with the firearm. The suspect was subsequently transported to the hospital for his injuries. No PHPD Officers or members of the public were injured during this incident, and no suspects are currently outstanding. If you heard some unusual sounds and sirens tonight, know that the situation is under control and your PHPD is here as always. This investigation is currently active and we will be sharing more information with you at a later time.
