Clayton County Jail Doctor Reports No Open COVID-19 Cases Inside The Facility! SHERIFF VICTOR HILL
Doctor Charles Clopton who is the head physician for the Clayton County Jail reported today that his medical staff presently has 0 inmates under care for COVID-19! This is phenomenal news considering the Clayton County Jail is one of the most populated facilities in Georgia. Sheriff Victor Hill went against the grain when he decided not to follow the national trend and set large amount of criminals free during the height of the fear of COVID-19. As a result, the crime rate in Clayton County continued to decline as opposed to jurisdictions around the country who saw sharp increases in crime after setting inmates free.
The Sheriff’s decision to keep Clayton County safe during the height of COVID-19 was not done without controversy. Interestingly, the Clayton County Jail came under attack by organizations who filed frivolous lawsuits, and some media outlets for having an alleged “outbreak” of Covid-19. Not so said Dr. Clopton who at that time in his report estimated the infection rate was at 0.5%. One media outlet went as far to alleged that the Clayton CountyJail had a confirmed Covid-19 death. No so confirmed Dr. Clopton. The inmate in question that passed away after being arrested for a murder he committed at a assisted senior living center “had multiple cardiovascular medical problems which contributed to his death” said Dr. Clopton. Dr. Clopton is certain that these lawsuits will either be dismissed, or defeated in court!
The best news to this all is that by keeping the jail fully functional while following COVID-19 safety guidelines, Clayton County has not only the bragging rights of a low infection rate, but a notable decrease in crime!
