Fire Weather Warning Upgraded to Red Flag Fire Warning.
The National Weather Service has upgraded the forecast for the East Bay Hills and inland valleys to a Red Flag Fire Weather Warning beginning Saturday at 9pm. This means that critical fire weather conditions will be occurring from Saturday 9pm through Monday 8am. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can all contribute to extreme fire behavior and cause these hazardous conditions.
Residents should take precautions and consider the following:
- Avoid mowing or using equipment around dry grass;
- Remember that MOFD has prohibited outdoor fires;
- Do not park vehicles on or drive vehicles through dry grass;
- Report suspicious activity; and
- If you are pulling a trailer, ensure that the chains are not dragging and causing sparks (this is how the Carr Fire started near Redding in 2018 and burned over 1600 structures).
Please call 9-1-1 to report any fires or suspicious activity. Thank you for helping us to keep Moraga a safe community.
