As a reminder, The San Leandro Police Department is aware of social media activity regarding a possible “meet-up” at Bayfair Center today. 

The “meet-up” was planned for 1pm, but we will be monitoring this well into the evening.

This “meet-up” is distinct from peaceful protesting and may be associated with criminal activity that occurred earlier this month in nearby cities.

At this time, we are unable to confirm if this “meet-up” will take place, but we are alerting the community so the residents and businesses can plan ahead. Police staffing will be increased accordingly, and updates will be provided if more information becomes available.   

We have also been in contact with our neighboring police agencies in case mutual aid would be requested.

We would also like to encourage our citizens to report suspicious activity to our dispatch center and not take action into their own hands.  During similar incidents firearms have been recovered from participants.
