On September 27, 2020, at 8:30 a.m., the Kern County Sheriff's Office received a call for a victim of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 5500-block of Norris Rd. Deputies responded and located an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. The female was transported to a local hospital where she is in critical condition.
While conducting the investigation, deputies learned a 2-year-old juvenile located a handgun in the apartment and accidently fired it, striking the female. The female victim was not the juvenile's mother, but was a relative.
