Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Enforcement Campaign
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Apple Valley Station, Chino Hills Station, Hesperia Station, Loma Linda Station, Rancho Cucamonga Station, Victorville Station, and Yucaipa Station arrested 19 drivers on suspicion of DUI from August 21st. through September 7th, Labor Day Weekend.
Among the 19 DUI arrest, two were for driving under the influence of drugs and three were for a combination of alcohol and drugs.
In addition to increasing the number of officers on patrol looking for suspected impaired drivers from Aug. 21-Sept. 7, The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Apple Valley Station, Chino Hills Station, Hesperia Station, Loma Linda Station, Rancho Cucamonga Station, Victorville Station, and Yucaipa Station held 13 DUI Saturations between Aug. 21st – Sept. 7th, resulting in 431 vehicle stops, 19 DUI arrest, 3 drug arrest, 8 felony arrest, 8 stolen vehicles recovered, 34 people arrested/cited for driving without a drivers license or on a suspended drivers license, and 11 other misdemeanor arrest.
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license and possible jail time.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Marijuana, illicit drugs, even prescription and over-the-counter medications, can impair and result in a DUI.
