INCIDENT: H.S. 11370.1(a), Possession of Controlled Substance While Armed, P.C. 29800 (A)(1), Felon in Possession of a Firearm

LOCATION: W. 2nd Street / N. G Street, San Bernardino

SUSPECT(S): Manuel Richard Esparza, Sr., age 44 a resident of San Bernardino

SUMMARY:
On September 29, 2020, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Deputy Lopez, from the Sheriff's Central Station, conducted a traffic stop in the area of W. 2nd Street and N. G Street in San Bernardino. Lopez contacted the driver of the vehicle identified as Manuel Richard Esparza, Sr. A record check of Esparza revealed he was on felony probation and had a felony warrant. During a search of Esparza’s vehicle and person, the deputy located a loaded Glock 44 handgun and two baggies of suspected methamphetamine. Esparza was arrested for H.S. 11370.1(a) - Possession of Controlled Substance while Armed and P.C. 29800(A)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Esparza was booked into Central Detention Center where he is being held on $200,000.00 bail.
