The officers located a subject matching the description and asked what he was doing. Officer Fulmore spoke with the reporting party and viewed the surveillance footage and saw the subject taking items from a stroller. The officers arrested the suspect, a 37-year old San Francisco resident, for receiving stolen property and misappropriation of lost property.

On Monday, 09-21-20 at 6:20 p.m., Officer Cain and Officer Dhaliwal were dispatched to a leasing office on the 300 block of Park Plaza Drive on a report of a subject throwing items inside the office. The reporting party said she and her co-worker ran into her glass office and shut the door behind them. They saw the subject remove a steel star decoration from the frame of a doorway and stood in front of the office door. The officers subsequently placed the 36-year old transient subject on a hold for being a danger to himself. The subject was taken to the hospital.

On Wednesday, 09-23-20 at approximately 4:11 p.m., a 52-year old Richmond resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run causing bodily injury after he was involved in a collision in the area of 87th Street and Village Lane.

On Wednesday, 09-23-20 at 5:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Walgreens on San Pedro Road regarding a welfare check. The reporting party was concerned about a vehicle parked in the lot, as a subject was passed out in the vehicle, and the vehicle was running. The reporting party said the vehicle smelled like alcohol. The officers arrived and saw a male in the driver’s seat who was fumbling around with something in his lap. The officers knocked at the window, and the subject seemed surprised to see the officers. The officers noticed the subject’s eyes were glassy, and he appeared disoriented. They smelled a toxic odor coming from the vehicle and saw three bottles of what appeared to be compressed air bottles in the passenger side and back seat. The officers asked the subject what he was doing, and he asked him to step out of the vehicle. The subject, a 22-year old San Francisco resident, admitted to “huffing”, and called it a “minor addiction”. The officers searched the subject’s vehicle and found 19 additional empty bottles of compressed air. The officers cited the subject for possession of nitrous oxide, and the subject’s father arrived and took possession of the vehicle.

On Thursday, 09-24-20 at 3:24 p.m. Officer Haas was dispatched to the CVS store on Pierce Street on a report of a shoplifting. The dispatcher gave a description of the suspect, and Officer Haas found him nearby, carrying several bags over his shoulders. The officer asked the subject where the stolen merchandise was, and the subject told the officer it was in his backpack. Officer Haas searched the subject’s backpack for the stolen merchandise and found several small baggies with a white powdery substance in them. He also found several glass pipes and 13 Xanax pills which were not prescribed to him. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
