The City of Manhattan Beach remains committed to providing the community with critical information and updates on the COVID-19 pandemic. As of September 29, 2020, Los Angeles County remains in Tier One, with "widespread" risk and the most restrictions. According to the State's website, L.A. County reflects 8.9 new COVID-19 cases per day (per 100k), with an adjusted case rate for tier assignment of 7.3; the positivity rate is 2.9%. Although Los Angeles County met the State's metric thresholds for Tier Two ("substantial risk") last week, L.A. County remains in Tier One due to the current adjusted daily case rate of 7.3. Per the State guidelines, to move to Tier Two, the County's case rate needs to be seven or fewer for two consecutive weeks. While the County's positivity rate of 2.9% falls within the moderate tier between 2 – 4.9% positivity rate, because our case rate falls into a different tier, the stricter tier prevails.
