DATE/TIME: Saturday, October 3, 2020
INCIDENT: Loma Linda University Church of Seventh-day Adventists Charity Car Show
LOCATION: 11125 Campus Street, Loma Linda
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, October 3, 2020, Loma Linda University Church of Seventh-Day Adventists hosted a charity car show. Approximately 3,000 vehicles and over 4,000 patrons attended the event.
Due to the unexpected large number of vehicles and pedestrians, roadways surrounding the church and the Medical Center were taken over by the event. For these reasons, the event was canceled by the coordinators around 10:00 pm. The Loma Linda University Medical Center Security Department requested assistance from deputies to help with the egress of vehicles.
Deputies monitored vehicle traffic and ensured a safe environment for all pedestrians leaving the event. There were no reports of injuries, traffic collisions, or criminal activity during the event.
Deputy Rule conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the event and located a loaded firearm inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and booked into the Sheriff's Central Detention Center without incident.
