Advisory

Hazardous Weather Outlook! SHERIFF VICTOR HILL SHERIFF VICTOR HILL

Tropical Storm Delta has formed just southwest of Jamaica and is expected to be a hurricane as it enters the Gulf of Mexico by midweek. The current forecast track has Delta making landfall along the Gulf Coast on Friday, potentially a major hurricane. The current track shows a landfall occurring in southeastern Louisiana, but significant impacts could occur anywhere along the Gulf Coast from eastern Texas to the Florida Panhandle.

Along this forecast track, we could expect to see impacts in Georgia beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend as the storm curves to the northeast after landfall. It is still too far out to predict the specific effects accurately, but if Georgia winds up on the storm track center's eastern side, its impacts would be higher. At the very least, some heavy rain, gusty winds, and a few tornadoes would be possible in Georgia this weekend. The current rainfall forecast has much of Georgia receiving 2-4 inches between Friday and Sunday.

The attached graphic shows expected forecasted rainfall amounts for Clayton County, and the National Weather Service's confidence levels for wind, rainfall, flooding, and tornadoes.
