MBPD Press Release: Nighttime Burglaries
On October 3, 2020 at approximately 1:14 am, the Manhattan Beach Police Department was dispatched to the 1500 block of Gates Avenue in regard to a residential burglary alarm. When officers arrived, they observed a male suspect standing by the stairs near the front door. When officers gave him verbal commands to detain him, he fled from the officers and out of sight. A containment was established but officers were unable to locate him. The suspect is described as a male adult, standing 5'07"-6' tall, medium build, wearing all black. No one was home at the time of this burglary.
On October 6, 2020 at approximately 9:30 pm, the Manhattan Beach Police Department was dispatched to the 1500 block of 1st Street in regard to a residential burglary. The suspect was able to climb onto a second story balcony and smash a window. The residence was occupied at the time of this crime and the suspect fled the residence prior to our arrival. There is no suspect description.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be increasing nighttime patrols throughout the City and especially this area. This is a reminder to keep your doors locked, your residential alarms activated and to make sure your residential cameras are operational.
