Advisory

Air Quality Alert until 05:00PM Monday

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is extending an Air Quality Alert on October 8, 2020, due to smoke impacts from the Creek Fire, SQF Complex, and other wildfires throughout California for San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and Valley portion of Kern Counties. In addition, the Tuolumne County and Mariposa County Air Pollution Control Districts have extended their Air Quality Alerts on October 8, 2020. These Air Quality Alerts are in effect until Monday afternoon, or October 12th. The Air Quality Alert issued by the Eastern Kern Air Pollution Control District also remains in effect, due to smoke impacts from surrounding wildfires for eastern Kern County. This covers Lake Isabella south to Tehachapi and points east to Rosamond, Boron and Ridgecrest. This Air Quality Alert is in effect until Wednesday afternoon, or October 14th. Exposure to particle pollution can cause serious health problems, aggravate lung disease, cause asthma attacks and acute bronchitis, and increase risk of respiratory infections. Residents are advised to use caution as conditions warrant. People with heart or lung diseases should follow their doctor's advice for dealing with episodes of unhealthy air quality. Additionally, older adults and children should avoid prolonged exposure, strenuous activities or heavy exertion, as conditions dictate.
