Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of September 28-October 4, 2020

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 09-28-20 at approximately 12:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Wellington Avenue on a report of an auto burglary in progress. Officer Reyes and Officer Jackson-Berrios responded to the scene. The reporting party gave a description of the suspect, and Officer Luis and Officer Sunga saw a subject matching the description who was near the area of Mission Street and Vista Grande Avenue. The reporting party said he heard glass breaking and saw a subject jump headfirst into a SUV parked in front of his house. The reporting party identified the subject an in-field show, and officers arrested the subject, a 16-year old Concord resident, for burglary, possession of burglary tools and committing an adult offense by a juvenile.

On Monday, 09-28-20 at approximately 12:54 a.m., Officer Ciucci arrested a 32-year old Broadmoor resident for driving under the influence after he observed her speeding near the intersection of Mission Street and Hillside Boulevard.

On Monday, 09-28-20 at approximately 1:43 p.m., Officer Castillo was on the 300 block of Park Plaza Drive when he saw two subjects attempting to gain entry into a Honda CRV. Officer Castillo contacted the male subject who said he was helping his friend because she locked her keys in the vehicle. The subject had a small air pump that was used to create a gap in the door frame and was using a long wire in an attempt to unlock the door. Officer Castillo asked the subjects their names, and the female paused when giving her last name. While waiting for Sgt. Reyes to come over to assist, Officer Castillo said the female was acting nervous, said she didn’t want his help, and asked if she was free to leave. Officer Castillo explained that both parties were being detained until he could verify no crime was being committed. Sergeant Reyes and Officer Mulitaoupele arrived to assist. The female began to pace, and Sgt. Reyes asked her why she was so nervous. Sgt. Reyes found a switch blade-brass knuckle knife and butterfly knife on the ground near the vehicle, and he was told that they were the female’s knives. Sgt. Reyes asked the female if the green purse near the vehicle belonged to her, and she said it was hers. Sgt. Reyes asked her what was inside the purse, and female told him marijuana. Sgt. Reyes found large bag of marijuana, several sandwich size bags of marijuana, a set of nunchukus, and a black pouch containing Ketamine. At that point, Sgt. Reyes placed the female, a 33-year old San Leandro resident, under arrest. Sgt. Reyes continued searching the subject’s purse and found a scale, unused zip lock baggies, cocaine, MDMA, empty pill capsules, and a large amount of folded currency. Officer Castillo searched the male subject, a 42-year old Daly City resident, and found a knife, as well as a small plastic baggie containing cocaine. Officer Castillo booked the female into jail, and he issued a citation to the male.

On Monday, 09-20-20 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Officer Lajoie arrested an 18-year old Daly City resident for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended driver's license following a collision at the intersection of Hickey Boulevard and Callan Boulevard.

On Tuesday, 09-29-20 at 9:21 p.m., Officer Fulmore and Officer Moody were on patrol and saw a subject drinking an alcoholic beverage in public, while standing on corner of the intersection of Schwerin Street and Geneva Avenue. They advised the subject that he couldn’t drink in public. The subject, a 26-year old Daly City resident, was on probation and was subject to search and seizure. The officers asked the subject if he had anything illegal on his person or in his backpack, and the subject said he did not. He gave permission to the officers to search his bag, and the officers found two large bags of marijuana in his shirt pocket and found 41 Xanax pills that the subject was not prescribed. The officers searched the subject’s backpack and found a scale, a pipe, marijuana and more pills. The officers cited the subject for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession for sales of a designated substance, possession of marijuana for sales by an adult, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The reporting party said the vehicle had been swerving and almost several cars while driving south on highway 280 and said the vehicle was in the drive through line. The reporting party showed the officer the video of the subject’s driving. The officer contacted the driver, conducted field sobriety tests, and subsequently arrested him for driving under the influence. The driver, a 61-year old South San Francisco resident, also had a collapsible baton in his possession, and he was arrested for that as well.

On Sunday, 10-04-20 at approximately 5:47 a.m., Officer Lajoie was dispatched to the area of Skyline Drive and Olympic Way on a report of a female who was yelling for help. The reporting party said a female was standing on the southbound lanes of traffic of highway 35, asking for help. The reporting party said the female appeared scared and was speaking to him fast. The reporting party said she said something to the effect of, “They are after me” or “They are annoying me”. The reporting party said he was unable to get any further information as there were two males who were trying to get her back into a nearby vehicle. The reporting party said the vehicle drove away, but he got the license plate. Officer Lajoie contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, and the owner confirmed he was in the vehicle with the female who was on highway 35. The subject advised he dropped her home safely.
