Josiah Sevillamull arrested on two counts of 211 PC – Robbery and one count of 10851 VC – Stolen Vehicle.
On Friday, October 9, 2020, at about 7:49 am, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (SDPS) received a 911 call reporting a robbery in the area of Picasso Drive and Picasso Terrace. Two male suspects approached the victim from behind as he was walking on the sidewalk and punched him in the head knocking him to the ground. The suspects then stole the victim’s wallet and cellphone before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. The 75-year-old victim sustained minor injuries.
Less than 30 minutes later, at about 8:16 am, the suspects pulled up next to a juvenile male walking on the sidewalk near Ticonderoga Avenue and Mary Avenue. The suspects threatened to assault the victim if he did not turn over his property. Fearing for his safety, the juvenile victim turned over a backpack and cellphone to the suspects. The suspects fled in the same stolen vehicle prior to police arrival. Through follow-up investigation, SDPS Officers located the vehicle in a nearby neighborhood, and a high-speed pursuit ensued.
A police alert was issued to neighboring law enforcement agencies with the vehicle description and detailed descriptions of the two suspects. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen vehicle traveling into the Stevens Creek Quarry, located at 12100 Stevens Canyon Road. SDPS officers responded to this location. The suspects fled on foot from the vehicle and were later apprehended near the intersection of Voss Avenue and South Foothill Boulevard by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
One of the suspects was found to be a juvenile male. The second suspect was identified as Josiah Sevillamull, an 18-year old San Jose resident.
