The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Habersham County in northeastern Georgia...

* Until 630 AM EDT.

* At 1248 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen over the past 3-4 hours with
storm-total rainfall since Saturday morning exceeding 5 inches in
southern Habersham County near Demorest, Cornelia, Baldwin, and
Alto. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly, especially
across southern Habersham County between Demorest and Cornelia and
southeast towards the Hall County line. Additional flash flooding
may develop further north closer to Clarkesville and Batesville
along the Soque River watershed.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Doppler radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Clarkesville, Cornelia, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy, Alto, Lake
Burton, Raoul, Batesville and Hollywood.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
