The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended the
* Flood Warning for... Eastern Habersham County in northeastern Georgia... Southwestern Rabun County in northeastern Georgia...
* Until 545 AM EDT Monday.
* At 1136 PM EDT, A high water event continues for the North Georgia Power Reservoirs as excessive flow continues to work through the system. Downstream of Mathis Dam, flooding may be lingering near Shady Lane and Mathis Dam Roads along with Joy Bridge Road. Other low spots may be flooded along the Tallulah River.
* AFFECTED AREAS: RABUN, GA ... HABERSHAM, GA
Instructions:
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
