Victim of Reported Shooting Now Suspect
 
On Saturday, October 3, 2020, Meridian Police responded to a report of a shooting. The female subject stated this happened while at Kleiner Park. During the investigation, Meridian Officers gathered evidence and confronted the female, who admitted she had a negligent discharge while at Kleiner Park. Meridian Officers recovered a handgun in the subjects' residence. 
 
This case will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review of charges.
 
The Meridian Police Department would like to thank Meridian residents and media for their cooperation and patience with this investigation.

MERIDIAN POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING
 
At approximately 5:18 a.m., Saturday October 3, 2020, Meridian Police were dispatched to a home in the 3800 block of Tahiti Court for a possible shooting victim. Upon arrival police made contact with a female in her fifties (50’s). The female told officers she was exercising in Kleiner Park when she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. The female stated she walked home to inspect the injury and this is when she discovered she had been shot in the stomach. The female told officers she did not hear or see anything, just felt the pain from the gunshot.
The female was transported to a local hospital where she underwent surgery for her injury. She is currently in stable condition.
