El Cerrito Police Crime Blotter: October 12th - 15th, 2020

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

October 12th
Auto Burglary- 1500 block of South 56th Street:
An unknown suspect shattered the window to a vehicle and stole a car jack sometime during the night.

Grand Theft- 1300 block of Rifle Range:
An unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from a Prius between the 5th and the 12th.

Robbery- & Hate Crime- Ohlone Greenway @ Eureka Avenue
At 5:30 pm, the victim was walking along the BART path when he was confronted by several suspects. The suspects demanded the victim’s property and then punched him several times. After punching the victim, the suspect made several racially derogatory statements and fled.

October 13th

Auto Burglary- 1600 block of Liberty Street
An unknown suspect shattered the window to a vehicle and stole numerous tools. The theft took place between the 11th and 12th at 3:00 pm.

Petty Theft- 7100 block of Cutting Boulevard
At 12:30 pm, an unknown suspect stole a package from the front porch of the victim’s home.

Vandalism- 6060 Central Avenue, Nations
At 12:26 pm, an unknown female shattered the front window of Nations.

Forgery- 11299 San Pablo Avenue, California Check Cashing
An unknown suspect cashed a forged check in February.

Attempted Stolen Vehicle – 10000 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 9:49 pm, an unknown suspect attempted to take the victim’s vehicle while the victim’s girlfriend was still in the vehicle. The girlfriend ran into a business and told the victim. The victim confronted the suspect and removed him from the vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot.

October 14th

Grand Theft- 510 El Cerrito Plaza
An unknown suspect stole a bicycle from the enclosed garage on the 7th.
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Misappropriation of property –

10600 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:28 am, an officer contacted a subject and discovered the subject was in possession of a controlled substance. The search also revealed the subject was in possession of another person’s wallet. The subject was released from the scene pending follow-up investigation.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – El Dorado St/San Pablo Ave:
At 5:05 am, an officer reports the recovery of a stolen motorcycle. The motorcycle was reported stolen to Berkeley Police in July.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Carlson Blvd/Central Ave:
At 5:24 am, an officer located an occupied stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen to Richmond Police minutes before. The occupants of the vehicle, a 44 year old male, were taken into custody. The male subsequently released with a signed promise to appear.

October 15th

Vehicle Theft- 6400 block of Waldo Avenue
During the morning hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1998 Honda Prelude.

Domestic Battery – 11760 block of San Pablo Ave
At 9:31 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 49-year-old female and a 67-year-old male. The male and female, who are married, got into a physical altercation where they battered each other. Both were taken into custody, booked, and then taken to county jail.
