Hold Director Maggard Accountable!

Click here (https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edit?promo_id=9891) to tell your legislators and city leaders to hold Director Maggard accountable.

Across the country, leaders of police departments are being placed on administrative leave, resigning or even being fired amid mass protests that have swept the nation in a backlash that started with the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Cancel culture has engulfed America. It is ruling the day — no judge, no jury, just swift and definitive judgment for any offense, be it a pattern of practice or a thoughtless mistake.

Earlier this year, Mayor Eric Garcetti initiated an executive order addressing racial discrimination in the City of LA, and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) CEO Justin Erbacci released a statement appointing Airport Commissioner Karim Webb to a Task Force focusing on addressing racial discrimination.

Yet at LAWA, Deputy Executive Director (DED) for Law Enforcement and Homeland Security David L. Maggard Jr., a man at the center of nine lawsuits on racial, gender, retaliation and disability discrimination, remains undeterred in his oversight of police and other employees at the nation’s second-largest airport.

No one among LAWA CEO Erbacci, the Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC), the LA City Council or Mayor Garcetti have moved forward with placing DED Maggard on administrative leave or conducting any independent investigation into the numerous allegations against Maggard.

If a rank-and-file police officer had even one accusation of impropriety, the officer would immediately be placed on administrative leave and face termination pending the outcome of the investigation.

Why is there one standard for regular employees and a totally separate one for the guy who oversees them? Where is justice for all??!!

Not at LAWA.

Fact #1: Maggard was hired at LAXPD despite previous discriminatory complaints filed against him as Chief of Irvine PD.

Fact #2: Maggard was allowed to hire two Caucasian individuals to executice supervisory positions from outside the Citt, bypassing other qualified minorities and female candidates within LAXPD, which emboldened his discriminatory behavior.

Fact #3: Numerous complaints of discrimination at LAXPD involving Maggard were not addressed internally; which led to nine lawsuits being filed in the past 2 years more than all other previous LAXPD Chief combined.

Fact #4: Despite the complaints & lawsuits, Maggard has never been investigated nor disciplined. Instead. he has been promoted TWICE.

No Stance = A Stance.

We cannot allow this behavior to occur and be passively supported within the City of Los Angeles.

Enough is enough, and we need transparency and accountability.

We ask you to please click here (https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edit?promo_id=9891), fill in the form with your information and urge your legislators and City officials to hold Director Maggard accountable.
