IN accordance with the NJ Department of Health, trick-or-treating is permitted in the Borough of North Caldwell on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st. To help ensure a safe Halloween for all residents, please refer to the attached flyer for guidelines and safe practices: https://www.state.nj.us/health/cd/documents/topics/NCOV/NJ_Halloween_2020.pdf
Residents who do NOT wish to participate in distributing candy, please keep your porch lights OFF. Porch lights turned on will indicate trick-or-treaters are welcome. In order to avoid crowds and large gatherings, the Borough will NOT be closing Wind Ridge Drive this year as the area typically attracts crowds not permitted during the pandemic. It is recommended that trick-or-treaters stay in your immediate neighborhood and travel with family or small pods at appropriate social distances. Please wear face coverings in addition to costumes and wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
Halloween gatherings should be limited as follows: Indoor gatherings must be limited to 25 people or 25% of a room's capacity – whichever number is lower – and all attendees must wear face coverings and stay six feet apart. Outdoor gatherings must practice social distancing. Avoid large parties, close contact and shared items.
A contactless and socially-distanced trick-or-treating drive-thru event is also being offered by the Recreation Department and Municipal Alliance for children 3 years old through 6th grade on Saturday, October 31 from 12 noon to 3pm. Nut-free candy and treats will be distributed to children in a creative and safe manner. Families will remain in their vehicles for this event. All participants must make a reservation. Please register through Community Pass by Tuesday, October 27 to participate.
Stay healthy, stay safe and Happy Halloween!
